Julian Nagelsmann is now the current Germany Men’s National Soccer Team Coach. The German soccer federation hopes the former Bayern Munich manager will do a better job than the last Bayern coach who handled the national team.
The German soccer association appointed Nagelsmann to lead the national team through the 2020 European Championship. The event will take place in Germany.
Nagelsmann, at age 36, is the youngest Germany coach since Otto Nerz was 34 when he became Germany’s coach in 1926.
According to soccer betting tutorials and news sites, Hansi Flick was the first Germany coach fired from the job. The federation sacked Flick on September 10 following the team’s third consecutive loss (a 4-1 defeat to Japan). Also, it was the team’s fifth straight game without a victory.

When Flick left Bayern to manage the national team in 2021, Nagelsmann took over as head coach. Despite leading his club to a Bundesliga championship (their 10th in a row), Bavarian superpower Bayern Munich sacked Nagelsmann in March. Then, they will face Mexico on October 18 in Philadelphia. The match against Austria on November 21 in Vienna will be the next step in the team’s preparations for Euro 2024.
Despite being fired as coach, Nagelsmann had a five-year contract with Bayern. His contract was a stumbling block for the federation. According to sources, Nagelsmann agreed to take a wage cut to lead the national team once Bayern ended the contract.
Flick had been anticipated to supervise a smooth transition for the national team after 16 years under Joachim “Jogi” Löw. Also, he led Bayern to back-to-back league victories.
With Flick as his assistant, Löw guided Germany to the 2014 World Cup triumph. However, Löw could not prevent Germany’s decline. The team performed poorly as the defending champions at the 2018 World Cup.
