Team USA will include Joel Embiid in its roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He contemplated playing for the USA or France in next year’s Summer Games.
Embiid, a Cameroonian native, has citizenship in France and the United States. According to bookie PPH reports, he would try out for Cameroon at the AfroBasket 2017 tournament. However, injuries prevented him from doing so.
Embiid’s participation in the summer of 2019 in Paris will depend heavily on his health. Injuries have plagued him in back-to-back NBA postseasons, and he has never played more than 68 games in a season.
Embiid to Play with Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics
According to sportsbook pay per head sources, Embiid will be 30 in March. So, it’s reasonable to ask if the Sixers would be thrilled with the prospect of their franchise face logging significantly more minutes over the upcoming offseason. The star-studded lineup announced for the Summer Games is perhaps too good to pass up.
Some of the greatest players in the NBA have wanted to compete for Team USA. According to sports news reports, they include LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and Devin Booker. If everyone who wants to join does so, this team might rival the 1992 Dream Team and the 2008 Redeem Team regarding overall talent.
It is important to note that these are all if/when participation obligations since a lot can change in a nine-month NBA season. However, betting on Team USA to win gold in the future sounds like a good idea.
