During the fourth race at the Horseshoe Indianapolis on Wednesday, stewards demoted Livi Me Dreaming to eighth place. A few seconds after the decision, Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse could not believe the DQ. Also, he was not alone in questioning the decision.

If the horse had not been impeded, the stewards would determine if the horse won the race if the foul had not occurred.
In countries where an offender causes interference that changes the race’s outcome, the offender is penalized by being placed behind the victim. It does not matter whether the victim would have finished ahead of the offender without interference.
